Louisiana Gaming Control Board reports July casino revenue at $212.5 million, a 7 percent increase year-over-year, with sports betting revenue also up and notable gains and declines among leading properties

Louisiana’s regulated casino market posted a 7 percent year-over-year revenue increase in July, according to official figures released by the Louisiana Gaming Control Board. The state’s casinos generated $212.5 million in gross gaming revenue for the month, reflecting continued growth in both traditional casino operations and sports betting activity.

Revenue Breakdown by District

The Lake Charles district remained the top revenue generator, reporting $76.8 million in July, a 5.9 percent increase from the previous year. Within this district, L’Auberge Du Lac saw a notable 17.1 percent jump to $28.6 million, while Golden Nugget Lake Charles experienced a slight decline of 0.4 percent, finishing at $26.9 million. Delta Downs contributed $14.2 million, up 1.2 percent year-over-year.

Shreveport/Bossier City operators collectively reported $50.2 million, a 2.5 percent increase. Margaritaville Resort Casino led the district with $12.9 million, up 17.5 percent, while Horseshoe Shreveport saw an 18.9 percent decrease to $11 million. Live! Casino posted $10.9 million, up 15.7 percent.

New Orleans and Baton Rouge Performance

Casinos in the New Orleans district reported $54 million in revenue, up 11.2 percent from July 2025. Caesars New Orleans led with $25.9 million, a 21.7 percent increase, while Treasure Chest generated $14.2 million, up 6.9 percent. Boomtown Casino & Hotel reported $7.8 million, down 5.2 percent.

The Baton Rouge district posted $24.6 million in revenue, up 11 percent year-over-year. L’Auberge Baton Rouge reported $12.7 million, a 4.2 percent decline, while The Queen of Baton Rouge generated $6.7 million, down 16.9 percent. Bally’s Baton Rouge, which completed its move to a land-based facility and rebranding in the past year, recorded $5.2 million—a 549.1 percent increase over the previous July.

Sports Betting and Market Trends

Sports betting revenue in Louisiana reached $36 million in July, up 10 percent year-over-year, from a total handle of $280 million. This growth in sports wagering comes as the state continues to expand its regulated betting options, with both retail and online sportsbooks contributing to the overall figures. The latest results follow a broader trend of rising gaming revenue in the region, as seen in other states where new casino properties and expanded betting products have driven record payouts, such as the recent record table game jackpot at Caesars Virginia.

Evangeline Downs, a racino property, also reported positive results with $6.8 million in revenue, up 7.9 percent from the prior year. Across the state, the mix of gains and declines among individual properties highlights the competitive dynamics of Louisiana’s gaming market, with some venues benefiting from recent investments and others facing increased competition.

Gross gaming revenue (GGR) is a key metric used by regulators and operators to measure the total amount wagered by players minus winnings paid out. In Louisiana, GGR figures are reported monthly by the Louisiana Gaming Control Board and form the basis for state gaming tax calculations. GGR differs from betting handle, which represents the total amount wagered before payouts, and from net revenue or profit, which accounts for operating expenses and other deductions. Understanding these distinctions is essential for interpreting market performance and regulatory reporting in the U.S. casino and sports betting industry.
