bet365 has officially launched both online sports betting and iGaming in West Virginia, expanding its U.S. footprint. The move follows regulatory approval and brings new features to the state’s regulated market

bet365 has entered the West Virginia online gambling market, launching both its sportsbook and online casino platforms after receiving full regulatory approval. The British operator’s debut in the state marks its latest step in a series of North American expansions, with West Virginia now joining a growing list of U.S. jurisdictions where bet365 is live for both sports betting and iGaming.

Regulatory Approval and Launch Timeline

The West Virginia Lottery granted bet365 an interim license in January, followed by approval for a full annual license on July 29, according to official licensing documents. With this authorization, bet365 becomes the 18th operator to offer online sports betting in the state and the fourth to provide both sportsbook and online casino products under West Virginia’s regulatory framework. The launch comes ahead of the 2026 college football and NFL seasons, allowing eligible players to access the platform in time for major sporting events.

Player Access and Product Features

West Virginians aged 21 and older can now register, deposit, and place bets on bet365’s online sportsbook and casino. The operator has introduced several of its signature features to the state, including the Early Payout Offer, which settles qualifying football bets as winners if a team leads by 17 points. Additionally, the new Jackpot365 progressive jackpot feature is available, integrated directly into the betslip and select casino games. All activity is subject to West Virginia’s responsible gambling requirements and age restrictions.

Competitive Market and Operator Landscape

With bet365’s entry, West Virginia now hosts 10 licensed online sports betting operators: bet365, BetRivers, BetMGM, Caesars, DraftKings, Ember Casino & Sportsbook, Fanatics, FanDuel, Kambi, and theScore Bet. Most of these brands also offer online casino gaming, sometimes under multiple brand names. For example, PENN Entertainment operates Hollywood Casino, Caesars runs both its flagship app and Horseshoe Casino, and DraftKings owns Golden Nugget Online Gaming. The state’s regulatory structure allows for multiple brands to operate under a single licensee, contributing to a competitive and diverse market for players.

Ongoing Expansion and Future Prospects

West Virginia is the sixth North American market bet365 has entered in the past 13 months, following launches in Kansas, Maryland, Missouri, Michigan, Alberta, Illinois, and Tennessee. The company has also invested in a new U.S. headquarters in Denver and joined the Sports Betting Alliance in 2025. While bet365 has expressed interest in additional states, including Massachusetts, no formal launch date has been confirmed for new markets beyond those already announced. Regulatory processes and licensing requirements continue to shape the pace and scope of operator expansion across the U.S.

Understanding sportsbook and iGaming licensing is essential for players and industry observers. In West Virginia, operators must secure approval from the West Virginia Lottery, which oversees both sports betting and online casino activity. Licenses are typically issued on an annual basis and require compliance with state regulations, including responsible gambling measures, age verification, and technical standards. The licensing process ensures that only approved operators can offer real-money gambling products to residents, providing a regulated environment for both player protection and market integrity.
